Social networking site Facebook is now the second-largest online video viewing platform in the U.S., overtaking Yahoo!, which slid down to number 3.
Facebook made the accomplishment in August, after it earned 243 million video viewing sessions and around 56.8 million users.
YouTube still holds the top spot with 1.9 billion viewing sessions and 146.3 million unique users.
According to a spokeswoman for comScore’s Video Metrix Service, YouTube videos posted or shared on Facebook were considered part of YouTube’s total. Only videos that were directly uploaded to Facebook through its Facebook player were counted as part of Facebook’s total.
Yahoo sits at the number 3 spot with 229 million viewing sessions and 53.9 million viewers.
Music video website Vevo grabbed the fourth place with 45.5 million viewers, while big media companies like NBC Universal, Fox, Viacom and Turner also made the list.
